Steps to Identify Your Excel Version
Try the general method first.
If you purchased your computer around 2014 or later, the “general method” should work.
The current latest versions are Excel 2021 and Excel 365.
General Method
- Click the File menu tab.
- Select the Account option located at the bottom left.
- On the right-hand side, the Excel version information will be displayed.
Method for Excel 2010
If the general method does not work, try the following:
- Click the File tab.
- Select the Help option.
- On the right-hand side, the Excel version information will be displayed.
Method for Excel 2007
If the above methods do not work, follow these steps:
- Click the Office Button, located at the top-left corner.
- Select Excel Options.
- Choose Resources (located at the bottom-left in the options window).
- At the bottom right, the Excel version information will be displayed.
Method for Excel 2000–2007
If none of the above methods work, follow this:
- Click Help and select About Excel.
- The Excel version information will be displayed.
Alternative Methods
- You can also identify the version based on the functions available.
- If entering
=TEXTJOIN
does not display any suggestions, your version is likely earlier than 2019.
