In Excel, you can insert images into a worksheet, but sometimes you may want to fit the image within a specific cell. This article explains how to accurately position an image inside a single cell and adjust its size to fit the cell.

Simply pasting an image will position it independently of the cell.

Method 1: Insert and Fit an Image into a Cell

This method involves placing an image within a specific cell and ensuring it moves and resizes along with the cell.

Steps

1. Click the Insert tab on the ribbon and select Pictures from the Illustrations group.
2. Select This Device or Online Pictures to choose the image you want to insert, and click Insert.
3. Click the inserted image and drag it over the cell where you want it positioned.
4. Resize the image to fit inside the cell by selecting it and dragging the corner handles.
5. To lock the image to the cell, right-click the image and select Size and Properties.
6. In the Properties section, select Move and size with cells.

Result

The image is positioned inside the cell and will move or resize automatically when the cell is adjusted.

Method 2: Use the Top-Right Icon to Fit the Image

Click the top-right icon of the pasted image to align it with the cell.

Steps

1. Position the top-left corner of the image over the desired cell.
2. Hover your cursor over the image.
